The Ministry of Power and Energy has stated that the 45 minute power cut in Sri Lanka will continue for the next few days.
It has been reported that the power outage will continue till the fault in the generator of the Nuwara Eliya Thermal Power Station is rectified.
The power outage will be carried out daily from 6 pm to 9.30 pm as and when required.
However, Soumya Kumara Manawadu, President of the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Association, said that there were continuous oil leaks from the faulty generator.
He also said that power outages were possible due to the suspension of power generation and the inability to maintain balance in the national power supply structure.
He added that he could not say for sure how many days it would take to repair the disorder.
