The judge investigates a new detainee for buying votes in Mojácar for capturing them for the PP

The judge investigating the alleged purchase of votes in Mojácar (Vera) has opened a separate piece for one of the eight detainees in relation to the case, who allegedly captured votes for the benefit of the PP and the PSOE. The Court of First Instance and Instruction Number 4 of Vera has agreed this Tuesday to lift the secrecy of the proceedings opened as a result of the alleged electoral fraud in the Andalusian town, in which last Wednesday seven people were initially arrested, including the numbers 2 and 5 of the socialist candidacy for City Hall, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA).

This eighth detainee is also being investigated for the alleged commission of an electoral crime, but the investigation opened against him has materialized in the opening of a separate piece within the open criminal proceedings, because his alleged actions would have benefited the PP and not, as supposedly happened with the other seven detainees, to the PSOE. Although the Investigating Court agreed to release him provisionally after invoking his right not to testify, the judge ordered his admission to prison because he has another case in another court, unrelated to the alleged purchase of votes.

In addition to the eight detainees who were brought before the courts, there are another three investigated in relation to the case that are still pending to be summoned by the judicial body.
This Tuesday it was also known that the judge ordered that a number —which has not been disclosed— of vote-by-mail envelopes be withdrawn so that the police could use them in the investigation of the case. The votes they contained were deposited at the polls last Sunday, says the TSJA.

In addition, the court of Vera has sent to the dean of the courts of the judicial district the complaint filed by the PSOE against the PP of the town of Mojácar in relation to the alleged purchase of votes, which is pending adjudication so that the open investigation can continue . In addition, the court has received a new complaint, also for electoral fraud, presented by a political party whose identity has not been revealed by the TSJA. The judge on duty has urged the judicial police to investigate the facts denounced.
