LOS ANGELES: The Indian film Writing with Fire has been shortlisted for the Oscar for Best Documentary. The Oscars are set to take place in Los Angeles, USA next March. The documentary Indian film Writing with Fire has been included in the top 15 list of international documentaries. The documentary Writing with Fire describes the rise of Kabar Laharia, India’s only newspaper run by Dalit women. The documentary is directed by Rindu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh.

In the Best Foreign Language Film category, 15 films are in the competition for Best Picture. Films from 92 countries qualified in this category. Leading the category are the Japanese film Drive My Car, Flea from Denmark, A Hero by Askar Farhadi from Iran and The Hand of God from Italy.
