While inflation is causing food sales to fall in France, those of the king of sodas have increased by 2.5% in volume since January.
Despite inflation, Coca-Cola is bubbly more than ever. In the opinion of François Gay-Bellile, CEO of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) France, which bottles and markets the brands of the American giant in France, the purchasing power crisis has not started the French taste for festive and convivial drinks. “Since the unexpected impact of Covid, business performance has been strong and our soda, energy drink and iced tea categories are doing well”rejoices the leader.
It does not matter that the labels of consumer goods have swelled by almost 20% in two years in France, the French still refuse to sacrifice “pleasure” products and those related to conviviality. A phenomenon that has benefited in recent months to the confectionery, dairy products, spreads but also and above all to the actors of soft drinks.
The king of sodas takes advantage of it. The volumes of its flagship brand Coca-Cola Original, a pleasure product par excellence, increased by 0.8% over the first four months of the year according to panelist Nielsen. Same for me…
