Every four years that a new electoral process is carried out in Guatemala, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) designates voting centers where citizens go to vote.
These spaces are classified as urban centers, located in the departmental and municipal capitals, as well as rural centers, in villages and communities.
The centers must comply with a series of guidelines so that the voter feels oriented when exercising their right to vote, and that they also support that the process is being carried out in order.
For the 2023 elections, 3,482 voting centers enabled nationwidethe majority located in Guatemala, with a total of 400.
Schools, colleges, municipal halls, sports centers, among others are conditioned so that Guatemalans can go to vote.
Each one will be fully identified from the entrance with a banner or poster that describes that it is one of the centers supported by the TSE, so it must include the logo of the electoral institution as well as the official logo of the electoral process of that year.
Within the centers, the table numbers in each room or environment must also be specified. In addition, each polling station will be equipped with the necessary materials and the number of people who will vote there will be defined, according to the Electoral Roll register.

Municipal Electoral Boards
The Municipal Electoral Boards (JEM) who, within their assignments, must open and close the voting centers, in addition to ensuring that the Vote Receiving Boards (JRV) begin their work on voting day and that they have the necessary documentation.
Vote Receiving Boards
Vote Receiving Boards (JRV) will also be designated in each of the centers, which work directly at the polling stations and function as temporary electoral bodies.
The JRVs are in charge of and are responsible for: the reception, scrutiny and counting of the votes, as described in article 180 of the Electoral Law.

Obligations
Each Receiving Board must comply with the following attributions:
- Open and close voting
- Review election materials and documents
- Respect and ensure that the secrecy of the vote is respected

- Ensure that voters deposit their respective votes in the corresponding transparent ballot boxes
