After a plane belonging to it was seized with almost 300kg of skunk, a more potent variant of the drug marijuana, the Church of the Foursquare Gospel issued a note to refute the suspicions of involvement raised by the mainstream media.
The seizure took place shortly before 7:30 am last Monday (29) in a hangar for private aircraft at Belém International Airport, in Pará. At the time, a suspect tried to escape, but was arrested by agents of the Federal Police.
290 kilos of skunk were seized inside a single-engine plane owned by Quadrangular. The denomination, after the repercussions of the case, said that it had already made the complaint on suspicion of irregularities in the storage of content inside the aircraft.
The church
Founded in 1923 in the city of Los Angeles, California, United States, by the evangelist Aimée Semple McPherson, better known as “Sister Aimee”, the Church of the Foursquare Gospel arrived in Brazil through the missionary work of Harold Williams and his wife, Mary Williams.
In 1973 the denomination arrived in the neighborhood of Reduto, in Belém do Pará, led by the pastor and former federal deputy Josué Bengtson, uncle of the former Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, and current senator of the Republic, Damares Alves.
Damares, by the way, even shared the church’s version of the seizure of drugs on the denomination’s private aircraft, used to transport leaders and also equipment in Pará.

Letter to the Church!
Beloved brothers, regarding what happened with the single-engine Bonanza, owned by the Church, it is a fact that:
– a young man, who has already provided cleaning services on the aircraft, approached our pilot wanting to make a flight to take, according to him, some tractor parts to a country town.
– Late at night on the 26th, this guy accessed the aircraft, without authorization from the hangar or from us, and placed the cargo inside.
– When we learned that he had done this without our authorization, we found the attitude very suspicious. We contacted the Federal Police, filed a complaint and asked for the appropriate measures to be taken.
– The PF promptly acted and the action was successful. The boy was arrested and the charge was seized. That’s when we came to know what the content was.
– What happened was something very serious and it saddens us to see the irresponsible way that some people are publicizing the fact. Attempting to involve Church leadership in what happened is, at the very least, acting in bad faith.
– We thank the PF for the brilliant performance. We thank those who sought us to know the truth and we thank, above all, our God for this deliverance. Peace!
