The Guatemalan Migration Institute (IGM) reported that a flight with returned Guatemalans from Harligen, Texas; United States, was diverted to El Salvador. This after the pilot reported mechanical failures in the aircraft.

For its part, the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics reported that due to this situation, a yellow alert was activated at La Aurora International Airport; however, after that the air terminal continued with its regular activities.
“The pilot of an aircraft indicated that he had a possible failure in one of his plane’s engines, therefore, the AILA protocol team was prepared; however, by decision of the pilot, it was diverted to El Salvador, but the Airport continues with its regular operations”, reported representatives of Social Communication of the Airport.
The IGM indicated that the flight with returned migrants landed in El Salvador, where a transfer will take place, so the 135 Guatemalans (adults) are expected to return to the country at 3:00 p.m. this day.
“The Guatemalan Institute of Migration confirms that people are well, likewise coordinated with the corresponding institutions to guarantee a comprehensive return,” they reported.
