If the antennas of France Bleu are working normally, it has been three days since it is impossible to watch the common mornings with France 3 for half of them. In Lille, Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence or even Paris, the faces of local information have been replaced by cartoons, as on public holidays or during school holidays. Sixteen local were still concerned Thursday 1is June, while France Bleu Hérault and France Bleu Drôme-Ardèche could join the movement in the coming days.

In question, employees of local public radio stations withdrew their image rights to denounce the precarious status of colleagues putting radio newspapers into images. The latter are employed by a private subcontractor, the production company Eden Press, under a fixed-term contract of use (CDDU) for one season. The management of Eden announced at the beginning of April that it did not intend to renew for an additional season the contract of visual editors who had worked for more than three years in a row for Radio France.

Four people will therefore end their contracts on June 30 (only three are affected by the rule), ten others at the end of the 2023-2024 season. “It’s a form of dismissal that does not speak its name”protested the SNJ-CGT of Radio France in a press release published on May 24. “Eden Press is especially concerned that these journalists who have acquired seniority will claim their rights”then wrote the union.

Negotiation to extend (or not) the agreement

Matthieu Darriet, co-secretary of the SNJ at Radio France and journalist at France Bleu Nord, is also outraged by this situation. He believes that the public company must use “its status as principal” to encourage the subcontracting company Eden Press to improve the working conditions of its employees and to leave the possibility of working longer if they wish. “It would be curious for Radio France to turn a blind eye to Eden’s practices when our company is in a CSR approach [responsabilité sociale des entreprises] who wants to be exemplary”believes Mr. Darriet.

Contacted, the president of Eden Press, Grégoire Olivereau, did not respond to our requests. “In our sector, the rule limiting the assignments carried out by employees on fixed-term fixed-term contracts to three years applies everywhere, in the private sector as well as in the public sector”, he replied to Agence France-Presse on Tuesday. That “generally suits the nature of our activities, their seasonality and the journalists themselves quite well”he added, recalling that “several possibilities can be offered” To those concerned. “Movement to another position in the company, management of teams seconded to our customers or on another program for which Eden is in charge”he insisted again.
