The Port of Marín handles three simultaneous bulk unloadings

The Marin Port Authority (spain) has experienced a 19.41% improvement in solid bulk traffic during the first quarter compared to last year’s activity. In fact, the Vigo facility receives these days a total of three bulk carriers that carry out unloading operations and the call of a fourth ship is still expected for the first week of June.

In more detail, the West Commercial Dock has hosted an operation of 33,000 tons aboard the ‘Voge Emma’, coming from Montreal, while the bulk carriers ‘Arklow Artist’ and ‘Onego Merchant’, coming from the United Kingdom, have docked at the Leirós Docks and Germany, to unload a total of 15,000 tons between both vessels.

What’s more, the ship ‘Loxandra’ is expected to arrive next week, when it will unload some 30,000 tons of bulk agri-food in the Vigo port area. This kind of traffic favors the supply of poultry and livestock farms in Galicia, which in turn produce meat, eggs and other derivatives for the consumer sector.

One advantage of this facility is that it has a rail connection that expedites the transit of these goods, with a daily departure of at least one grain train. Bulk agri-food is one of its main traffics, for which it has operators and specialized machinery, as well as a large storage capacity.

On the other hand, the Port Authority of Marín and Ría de Pontevedra has recently granted the temporary union of companies made up of GPO Ingeniería y Arquitectura and JG Ingenieros the technical assistance contract for the drafting and integration of the maintenance plan for its assets, infrastructures , buildings and facilities.
