His angel face, his bravado pout and his messy hair do not go unnoticed on the front line. Installed in eastern Ukraine since the spring of 2022, Ignatius Ivlev-Yorke organizes evacuations there wherever the Russian army is pounding. From Soledar to Bakhmout or Avdiivka, the young Russian-British volunteer and his team of rescuers ventured into the worst fires to extract trapped families. The roads of Donbass, that they criss-cross without worrying about holes in the roadway, or lingering too long at checkpoints, have no more secrets for them. In one year, Ignatius and his comrades say they have evacuated more than 4,000 civilians.
