More than 200 roller sport athletes present at the meeting

Resumed, the Challenge Cotonou Skating Open made a great mobilization on Sunday May 28, 2023. It was on behalf of the 60^e edition of this competition organized by the Benin Federation of Roller Sports (FBRS) to put its athletes in the leg. This 60^e edition was held on the new Agontikon roadway. And a major national event for the expression of talent in this discipline outside the championships, the Challenge Cotonou Skating Open at the end of May saw the participation of more than 200 athletes. Divided up by category, these competitors, some confirmed and others in training, competed fiercely to secure the best places.

In the 15 km elimination + challenge point for the 15-year-olds, first place went to Bachirou Issoufou. This athlete from the Roller pro club with 31’08”37” made a total of 17pts. He comes well ahead of Jorys Domanou from the Smart Rider club who totals 10pts after finishing in 31’42”58”. The 3^e of this classification is the athlete Jean Eude Ahonoukoun of Roller’s men who collected only one point after 32’06”88” of race.

At the level of the oneLap Challenge, still among the 15+, it was still Bachirou Issoufou from the Roller Pro club who won. Mohamed Demba Diallo from Pro skating arrived 2^e. For his part, Rawdath Demba Diallo, also from the Roller Pro club, ranked 6^e. The one Lap Espoir (10 to 14 years old) was won by Inesta Landanzoun of Roller Pro in 02’07”65”. His immediate pursuer is Credo Agbossou of Smart Rider who arrived a second behind him.

The 2km minim race was controlled by Jean Jacob Agossou of Aigle Skater. He is followed by Sergine Tchibozo and Karl Sahagui, both from Roller Pro. The same Jean Jacob Agossou also took first place in the 100m Sprint Straight Line. He came ahead of Jean-Christ Coffi and Stelvio Tossou, who come from Roller Pro. At the end of the competition, it is a satisfaction for the organizers in this case the president of the federation Marius Tchibozo with regard to the mobilization and the running of the events. As for the performance of the different athletes, the observation is that it does not yet accompany the quality of the work being done. According to the national technical director, the technical level has improved but the performance is not yet there. He also urged the athletes to stress less and encouraged them to increase the pace.
