by time news

Back to theeighth edition the event MANTOVARCHITECTURE, international event dedicated to the themes of architecture, urban planning and landscape: one month of meetings and conferences, for a total of 56 dates.

From May 9th to June 9th all fans will be able to follow for free the proposals scheduled for this new edition of the review, which has now become an eagerly awaited and very popular moment.

With the scientific advice of the magazine “Casabella” and the support of the municipal administrations of Mantua and Sabbioneta, Palazzo Ducale, the Order of Architects PPC of Mantua, MANTOVARCHITETTURA 2021 will be held in a mixed mode, with some appointments in presence (in compliance with the rules that guarantee safe participation), alternating with events broadcast live or recorded, even in locations of great historical and architectural value for the Mantua area (Bibiena Theater to Mantova and Ancient Theater of Sabbioneta).

The review will kick off with the inauguration, which will take place on 9 May at 18:00, with an event held in collaboration with Magro Theater and registered in Sabbioneta.

The program will continue with a series of insights on relationship between “old and new” in contemporary Italian and European architecture (with a study dedicated to Portugal, edited by Edoardo Souto de Moura, lecturer at the Mantua Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, and guests such as João Mendes Ribeiro and João Pedro Falcão de Campos who will present their latest works), up to new professional realities in China, with, among others, the studio Vector Architects, founded in Beijing in 2008.

Within the articulated program, particular attention will be dedicated to history of architecture in the Gonzaga territory, with trips to little-known places in 16th-century Mantua. Furthermore, a series of points of view on the museum heritage, the techniques of representation and the transformations of the territory will be presented.
Among the novelties for this edition, announced by Prof. Federico Bucci, Vice-Rector of the Territorial Pole of Mantua and scientific director of the UNESCO Chair, the proposal of a section of shorter films dedicated to the historical monuments of the Mantua area should be noted.

MANTOVARCHITETTURA, an initiative born in 2014, is offered to the public of architects, but also to non-experts, in that international dimension in which Mantua and the Polytechnic are located.

The main protagonists have always been the students of degree courses, which with events, have the opportunity to listen to the voices of architects from all over the world – by the British Simon Allford e Niall Mc Lauhling to the colombian Giancarlo Mazzanti – which root in the old the construction of the new and to live one open confrontation between teachers and students in a perspective based on the value of history as land on which to cultivate the project of living spaces.

MANTOVARCHITETTURA is a collective work, curated by the professors of the Mantua territorial pole of the Politecnico di Milano with students, collaborators and technical-administrative staff.

For this eighth edition the graphic project has been completely renewed by Tassinari / Vetta, one of the most successful graphic studios in Italy.
