This Friday the second edition of the cycle of short informative conferences began at the Antiguo Casino de Ciudad Real “real science”, an initiative of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) that shows society the scientific and technological activity of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of the Ciudad Real campus.

The interventions of this first session have been led by the lectures -of 20 minutes each- by the professor of Food Technology Vanessa Mancebo Campos, which has offered the keys to interpret the nutritional labeling of foods and avoiding fats, sugars and salt; that of the professor of Applied Mathematics, AAlberto Donoso Bellónwho has spoken about the magic of Mathematics and the professor of Food Technology BEatriz Garcia Béjar Bermejo who gave a talk entitled “Life is hard, but it would be harder without yeast”.

The Ciencia Real cycle was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor for Students, Ángeles Carrasco; the councilor, Nacho Sánchez; the dean of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Technologies, Manuel Andrés Rodrigo and the director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics to Science and Engineering, Henar Herrero Sanz, coordinator of the cycle, who stressed that among the objectives is also to awaken scientific vocations -techniques between pre-university students and building a bridge between the University and the city.

The dean of Chemicals thanked the city council for being able to celebrate this cycle in municipal facilities, highlighting that the capital is a university city with an important tradition of the University. Thus, he highlighted the role played by the Faculty of Chemistry in terms of training and research and in helping the city learn about Science “and everyone understands us and knows this world,” he said.
