The Pentecostal Church of God is Love (IPDA) is about to celebrate another year of existence. Involved in recent controversies, the denomination organizes a major event that will mark its more than half century in Brazil, precisely the age of 61 years.
The IPDA birthday party will take place on the 11th, a Sunday, at Avenida do Estado, 4598, in Baixada do Glicério, in São Paulo (SP), and will be attended by national leaders of the denomination.
Faithful of the Church of God is Love will be able to watch the ceremony online, as well as in person for those who go to the place previously chosen for the celebration, informed the official site of the institution.
Controversies
The 61st anniversary of the IPDA comes in a year in which the denomination comes out of controversies involving its leadership. In the second half of last year, in this case, an audio leak attributed to singer Léia Miranda, daughter of the president of the church, sister Ereni Miranda.
The recording would suggest that the singer had an extramarital affair, which was denied by her at the time. “Many people came out in support of me, because they saw that it is a frame to overthrow me”, said Léia.
Subsequently, the leading youth pastor of the IPDA, David Miranda, went public to say that they were trying to end his ministry, supposedly, because of his position of disagreement with some requirements of the church.
“Since the beginning of the Regenerate Ministry, 2018, they have tried to end the work. All levels tried to end Regenerate so that we would cease to exist. High echelon and or low echelon,” declared the religious leader in a video posted on social media.
Despite the conflicts, David made it clear that bringing some information to light is not intended to cause division in the denomination. “We are not here to cause any cracks [na igreja]”, he said on another occasion. Learn more below:
