The Port of Barcelona will unite the Muelle de la Energía and the Adosado

The Board of Directors of the Barcelona’s port (spain) has given the go-ahead for the construction of a battery of seven underground conduits that will link the Energía wharf with the Adosado wharf.

This is a complicated construction because they will have to cross the navigation channel, 700 meters long, and will reach a depth of 32 meters below sea level, but it is necessary to ensure the arrival of basic services to the Attached Dock, the which is expanding its size. Likewise, they want to integrate a medium voltage network to deliver electricity to the ships, as detailed in the Nexigen dock electrification project.

The opening of the North entrance in 2003 transformed the Attached Dock into an island, accessible by mainland from the Porta d’Europa bridge. At this stage, the opportunity was taken to install a service gallery under the North mouth channel that would facilitate the arrival of water, electricity and communication services.

For its part, the extension of the Adosado Dock will mean expanding the service networks, especially the electricity supply, in order to guarantee the necessary power for the ships that connect while they are docked. To do this, underground conduits will be built that will pass under the southern access channel.
The initiative has a base tender budget of 15 million euros, excluding VAT, and an execution period of 28 months.

On the other hand, the Barcelona Port Authority has begun the bidding process for the remodeling works of the Contradique Norte wharf, which is part of the actions being carried out by those responsible for the site to specialize the traffic of the docks.
