San Salvador. The National Directorate of Higher Education and the Higher Education Council awarded the Central American University (UCA) two Awards for Excellence in Higher Education.
The house of studies presented seven projects in the first contest of these awards but two obtained first place; With this initiative, successful projects or models of good practices of higher education institutions in the country have been made known.
As for the UCA, the awards were received in the categories “Initiative for the inclusion of women in STEAM areas” and “Research and innovation project articulated with the business sector”.
The first refers to the tutoring and academic reinforcement program developed by the Department of Mathematics with the Muchas Más Foundation, and with which girls and young people in vulnerable situations are supported so that they can pursue careers related to science, technology, engineering and math.
The second is a microfinance research project, executed by the Department of Accounting and Finance, which studies and analyzes the evolution of microenterprises in the country, and generates inputs so that their leaders can make strategic decisions.
The other projects presented are the promotion, dissemination and cultural preservation; social responsibility linked to early childhood; and environmental sustainability implemented in higher education institutions.
UCA authorities consider that the first two places obtained “show the responsibility and high level with which the University’s academic teams work” and how the initiatives and projects of the institution can have an impact on society and vulnerable sectors. .
