The pair nicknamed Bakri (Bagas/Fikri) made it to the final after playing three games against the men’s doubles from South Korea, Choi Sol-gyu/Kim Won-ho.
The Thailand Open tournament will be their second BWF World Tour final this year after the Orleans Masters last April.
Against Sol-gyu/Won-ho, Bagas/Fikri performed extra hard from the start of the match until they were finally able to win with a 22-20 advantage in the first game.
However, entering the second game, the Korean duo performed better and were able to beat Bagas/Fikri with a score of 13-21.
In the decisive game, Bagas/Fikri were behind 0-3 and 7-8 before Sol-gyu/Won-ho took the lead 11-9 during the interval.
After the break, Bagas/Fikri were able to get up and successfully win five consecutive points to turn around to lead 14-11, they didn’t give the opponent a chance to reply. Finally the victory was secured 21-16 by Bagas / Fikri.
In today’s final, Sunday (4/6/2023), Bagas/Fikri will face tough opponents, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang from China.
Bagas / Fikri need to be vigilant because the Bamboo Curtain Country’s men’s doubles managed to defeat their compatriot and senior, The Minions, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
