This Sunday, Aaliyah Mantel woke up like in a dream. The tiara and the scarf are however there to testify that it is indeed she who was crowned Miss Oise 2023, Saturday evening, at Saint Paul park. “I would not say that I am the most beautiful woman in the Oise”, she warns from the outset. “I really did not expect this title”, insists the young 19-year-old Beauvaisienne who succeeded Levana Boulou.
As is sometimes the case, Aaliyah first made her mom’s dream come true. “She was the one who pushed me to register,” she admits. She dreamed of having a miss daughter and always believed in me. Personally, I was very reluctant at first. I am rather shy and, for me, presenting myself on stage was a very complicated ordeal. I’m proud that I managed to overcome that. »
The world of beauty is nevertheless familiar to the young woman. “It has always fascinated me,” she admits. I like to take care of myself and others. I am also in the last year of aesthetic BTS in alternation for this reason. Her professional experience in a beauty salon helped her for the beauty pageant. “Contact with customers allowed me to overcome my shyness a little,” she concedes.
However, the stress was very present on Saturday evening during the competition. “When I came on stage and saw the whole audience, it was impressive. I was afraid of missing the show, of making a mistake in the choreographies learned in the morning. »
“Hearing my family screaming with joy was huge for me”
But everything went well and each parade, as a cheerleader, in evening dress, bathing suit and evening dress, was a success. “With the 14 other candidates, we really supported each other and a bond was created between us,” she explains.
When the results were announced, Aaliyah had another stressful blow. “I was not placed among the finalists, she says. I was called last and I had already resigned myself. When the number 4 was called, I didn’t realize it was me being called. Once crowned in front of Emma, the emotions arrived immediately. My tears flowed. Hearing my family screaming with joy was huge for me. »
“Proud” to be an ambassador for Oise, Aaliyah will first focus on obtaining her BTS. “Then, I will prepare for the election of Miss Picardy”, she announces with another challenge to take up: “to walk with 12 centimeter heels”. “I’m not in heels at all,” she admits. I will have to practice. »
Aaliyah Mantel and her runners-up, Emma Vandewalle, Léane Mesnard, and Pauline Duchâteau, will represent Oise in the Miss Picardy election scheduled for October 15 at the Elispace in Beauvais.
