Pure sunshine at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park

Sun instead of mud: the fans at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park music festivals had good weather this year. The atmosphere at both events was peaceful, as the police confirmed.
Three days of non-stop partying at Rock im Park in Nuremberg and at the same time with a similar program at Rock am Ring on the Nürburgring. In both places, the fans could enjoy plenty of sunshine. “According to our meteorologists, these are the best weather conditions in 30 years,” said Steffi Kim, spokeswoman for Rock am Ring. The musicians were exuberant at the Nürburgring: the singer of Fever 333 stood on the pit roof and was cheered from below, rapper Apache 207 drove through the audience on a rolling ship and the Foo Fighters put on a two-hour show on the day of their album release.
Pop star Olaf the pinball machine made a surprise appearance on Friday. On Sunday evening, the Toten Hosen are the last band on the main stage.
Around 70,000 visitors celebrated at Rock am Park in Nuremberg – slightly more than initially expected. Here, alongside the Foo Fighters and Apache 207, the Swedish metal band Meshuggah was supposed to be on the stages on Sunday evening.
The police spoke of an exuberant and peaceful mood on the festival site in Nuremberg. “The forces report that it is quieter than last year and significantly quieter than in previous years,” police spokesman Marc Siegl told Rück am Park. At the Nürburgring, too, the police were initially satisfied on Sunday. A spokesman said it was quiet and peaceful.
Rescue workers treated almost 1,600 people at Rock am Park by Sunday morning – fewer than in the previous year. The paramedics mainly treated minor abrasions and cuts, said Sohrab Taheri-Sohi from the Bavarian Red Cross. They saved the life of a man: he fell lifeless, rescue workers were quickly on the spot and were able to resuscitate him.
