Kapil said that the Indian players who won the title by defeating the Windies were overjoyed and it continued till late at night. India beat the mighty West Indies by 43 runs in the final at Lord’s. Batting first, India were bowled out for 183 and the Windies were expected to win easily.
In reply, India bowled out the West Indies, then hailed as the undefeated champions of world cricket. India chased down the Windies by 140 runs. Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath took three wickets apiece.
