Lightning story
The story takes place in the 90s. Kurukkanmoola is a small village. There’s a young man named Jason. One night, unexpectedly, Jason is struck by lightning. Then he gets a lot of super powers without even knowing it. But someone else in the same village was struck by lightning. One becomes the savior of the village while the other becomes the savior. The theme of the film is the encounter between them.
Action and Emotion
When you hear a superhero movie, don’t think of it as just action. The cast adopts a storytelling style that combines action and emotion. A different treatment that emphasizes the love and emotion of the villain rather than the love of the protagonist. Scenes that children and adults alike can connect to. The best scenes in the script are shot without losing any of its beauty.
Superhero VFX
The superhero in the movie is actually VFX (not underestimating the performance of the actors). It can no longer be said that Malayalam cinema has limitations in terms of budget and time. Those who say so, it is good to see a flash of lightning. Minnal Murali will teach you how to do VFX of a movie cleanly without any ‘overkill’. Let the rank and file themselves reveal that in the days to come.
Tovino Stara
Actor Tovino Thomas may be the first step towards becoming a superstar. The actor has done a great job in the aforementioned action and emotion scenes. The comedy scenes are also handled effortlessly. May’s flexibility in action scenes is noteworthy. Tovino has done many sequences without even the help of a dupe.
Lightning is the villain and the others
As seen in all the Marvel superhero movies, the cast has been able to bring out the villain and personality. Guru Somasundaram did the role beautifully. Harishree Ashokan can also captivate the audience with his different roles. Baiju, Aju Varghese, Vashisht Umesh, Jude Anthony, Mamukoya, P. Balachandran and other actors shone in the lightning.
Basil’s ‘Cinematic Universe’
In his third film, director Basil Joseph keeps track of success. Basil has cemented his place in the ‘Malayalam Cinema Universe’ by presenting his concept of a superhero film without fail. There is no doubt that Lightning Basil will have the confidence to make great movies.
Behind the lightning
Sameer Tahir’s cinematography should not always be mentioned, but it would be a sin not to mention it. Sameer made Minnal Murali look beautiful with lighting and framing. Written by Arun Aniruddhan and Justin Mathew, we can now move on to the second part. The music composed by Shaan Rahman and Sushin Shyam was beautiful. (It would have been nice to have a clarification on why the music in the teaser was omitted). Producer Sofia Paul deserves a big round of applause for having the courage to make such a film.
