The graphic designer
“It was David Nicolas, alias Number 6, Barzolff, an old traveling companion for thirty years who made this cover. I gave him indications in relation to the pieces and the atmospheres and I provided him with about fifteen photos which he used as a framework like, a bit, a series of jazz chords. He interpreted all this material through this image designed in 3D. We chose the first one he showed me. I did not expect this result at all and it made me laugh a lot. It looks like a photo when it’s not.
The atmosphere
“The atmosphere is twilight with a sunset reflecting off the cars. It could be everywhere, whether in Florida or in a parking lot in the suburbs of Paris. We feel that there is pollution. It’s like the vision of a world completely crushed by a mode of development that is slipping. Human beings have become minor compared to machines, even pigeons dominate them. Still, I think it’s an optimistic cover, because afterwards, it can only get better.”
Le food-truck
“It’s David’s idea. I liked it a lot, because my grandfather had fitted out this same type of Citroën utility vehicle in the 1950s to transform it into a motorhome in which he took his children on vacation. On this image, it can make think of a sound system in the middle of a rave with the public rushing around. But it can also be a hot-dog stand or selling Pépé Bradock records.”
Veggie Snack
“With David, we were working on the cover and we wanted to exchange via a Zoom-like app. I had to create an account and found myself this name “Veggie Snack”. When he saw this nickname appear on the screen, he thought it was a good idea and that he had to use it in a somewhat sarcastic way, in an advertising propaganda perspective that recycles everything.
