The world number 1 benefited from the abandonment of the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko in the first set (5-1) to find Coco Gauff in the quarters.

The world No.1 and trophy holder, Iga Swiatek, joined world No.6 Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros, for a repeat of the 2022 final, benefiting from the retirement after six games of the ‘Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (66th) on Monday.

Tsurenko gave up after about thirty minutes of play, when she was trailing 5 games to 1 by Swiatek. At the previous side switch, she had called the doctor, appearing to be having difficulty breathing and feeling dizzy.
