Capricious weather: in Ardèche, “this year, things are looking pretty good” for olive oil and wine

The vagaries of the weather? Karine Moulin and Jocelyn Vigouroux, wine and olive oil producers at the Domaine du Pigeonnier in Payzac in the Ardèche Cévennes, have learned to deal with it. “It’s part of being a farmer. We work on life. There are parameters that we cannot control”, confides Jocelyn, philosopher. Last year, for example, they lost two-thirds of their olive oil harvest due to lack of water. “The flowers had literally grilled on the tree,” says the producer.
