Expanding and deepening the political training of leaders of political, mass, social organizations and other community actors, in order to contribute to cultural changes and work conceptions, from the values and assumptions of Popular Education, motivated a new meeting of the coordinators of this task in Artemisa.
The purpose is to innovate in the field of popular participation and control, based on the development of knowledge, values and skills for the practice of political work at the base. This seeks to strengthen the organizations, their performance and the social, collaborative and supportive fabric in the communities.
“The idea was born from the leadership of the country, through coordination between the Party and the Martin Luther King Memorial Center,” said Dania Pérez Crespo, a popular educator and one of the group’s coordinators.
“It is essential for the country to train those who work at the base; through the methodology of Popular Education, achieve real participation in all the processes that take place in Cuba, even in an assembly, a work center or an educational institution.
“We are walking towards that possible dream. The second workshop will address popular participation and control, at the ANAP National School, in Güira de Melena, from the 19th”.
María de los Ángeles Alonso, a member of the pedagogical coordination in the province, explained that, in all the provinces, a group of people prepare themselves as trainers, to then take the task to each municipality, and there develop the teaching modules. training of leaders of political and mass organizations.
Also a member of the Candelaria Popular Education Network and the Paulo Freire Pedagogical Collective at the national level, commented that “popular education is based on how we bring feelings closer to actions and we fall in love with what we undertake. It goes to re-enchantment, to develop transformation processes, as our President says, from the heart”.
