After a rainy week, the sun came out today (Friday) at the Raanana Municipal Tennis Center, allowing the Tennis Association to hold the semi-finals of the Israel Wilson 2021 Championship for seniors and graduates. The incumbent champions qualified for the two finals, and in front of them is a female and male tennis player, for whom this is the first Israeli championship final in her career. In the men’s final, Yishai Uliel and Saar Simon will play, and in the women’s final, Lina Glushko and Nicole Hirin. The games will take place tomorrow starting at 10:00 in Raanana, with the women’s final first and then the men’s final. Admission to the games is free.
The first-ranked man and last year’s champion, Yishai Uliel, defeated his Davis teammate Daniel Zuckerman 4: 6 4: 6 (ranked 4), and will try to win a consecutive second title tomorrow. Saar Simon (ranked 5) defeated Idan Leshem 6: 7 and 3: 6 and will want to win the title of Israeli champion for the first time in his career, in his first appearance in the final.
In the women, the senior ranked, Lina Glushko, defeated Nicole Nadel 2: 6 and 5: 7, who had previously completed the victory in the quarterfinals over Lake Gamliel. Glushko will also try to win a second consecutive title, with Nicole Hirin rising in front of her, who defeated the young Karin Altori 0: 6 and 3: 6. For Hirin, too, this is his first appearance in the final.
