Thiruvananthapuram: Director, actor and screenwriter Ranjith will be the chairman of the State Film Academy. The official announcement will be made soon. Director Kamal is currently the Chairman of the Film Academy. Kamal took over as chairman in 2016.
Ranjith made his cinematic debut in 1987 with a screenplay for the film ‘May Masa Pulari’. Later he became a part of films like Witness and Peruvannapuram Specials. In 1993, the film ‘Devasuram’ marked a turning point in his career. In 2001, he directed the second part of Devasuram, Ravanaprabhu. Ranjith, who has won several state and national awards, has also proved his mettle as an actor. He last acted in Bhishma Parvam and 21 Grams.
