Inaugurated in Rome, at the Hotel de Russie, the Nijinsky suite dedicated to one of the legendary dancers of 20th century dance, star of Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes. The Nijinsky Suite is spread over 172 m2 of interior space, houses two bedrooms and offers a 240 m2 private terrace overlooking the monumental garden, Villa Borghese, Pincio and the rooftops of Rome. The spaces of the suite have been completely redesigned and are now the result of a major restyling aimed at making the environment more spacious and comfortable, giving guests the opportunity to feel as if they had their own apartment in Rome.

The new rooms have acquired greater luminosity and are much more likely to evoke a sense of belonging linked to the place. The chosen and selected furnishings are an eclectic mix of vintage Italian design and custom objects all from Italy and in close relationship with Roman culture and with the period of the building that houses the suite. The materials and textures, as well as the shapes, all have a very strong connection with the typical craftsmanship of Italian design, helping to create a feeling of elegant welcome, never too intrusive, and typical of the projects by Olga Polizzi, deputy chairman and director of design of the Rocco Forte Hotels

Olga Polizzi, who has always meticulously cared for every design and stylistic detail, tells her vision of the Nijinsky Suite. “I love to create a sense of belonging, that home feeling which has always been the key word in all the projects of the Rocco Forte Hotels group – he explains – using a visual language that recalls the city where we are. Thus, the suite reflects a home Roman noble family. Original statues at the entrance, intense red colors on the walls, typical of Roman houses next to a collection of plates and art objects from the 19th century, Valadier’s period. And then – he adds – a wallpaper with a representation of a typical Italian garden, a terracotta cabochon floor in very close connection with the palace and with the city of Rome”.

“The city of Rome is experiencing a renaissance of tourism and international clientele and the Hotel de Russie – explains a note from the hotel – in a prompt response to the market, is finalizing an extensive renovation project of the common areas and rooms, founded on a fusion of historical and modern with the aim of achieving a complete renovation of the inventory of the Hotel”.

Renovation started in 2020 with the restoration of the monumental garden, which brought to light the original layout designed by Giuseppe Valadier, followed by the renovation of the Le Jardin restaurant, entirely restored and decorated by the immersive artist Gio Bressana, and of the renovated Stravinsky Bar in design and enriched by mosaics in the background. Since 2022, the restyling project has involved the lobby, rooms and suites of the hotel, paying particular attention to the reorganization of the rooms, the lighting and the areas intended for wardrobes and bathrooms, with the aim of redefining the design and optimizing it the functionality also in relation to the long stays of the guests of the Hotel de Russie.
