Dhe hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur has been posthumously inscribed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, the rapper’s sister, unveiled the 2,758th star on the Celebrity Milestone dedicated to her older brother on Wednesday (local time). She tearfully shared Tupac Shakur’s dream of one day being honored in exactly this way in Hollywood.
The organization behind the Walk of Fame said Shakur should have received the star back in 2013. But they waited until his survivors and his estate administration had chosen a date. The choice finally fell on June 7th, on June 16th the rap legend would have been 52 years old.
In 1996, Shakur was shot dead in the street under mysterious circumstances. He was 25 years old. Although his music career only lasted five years, he sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, including “All Eyez on Me”, which went on to become one of the highest-grossing rap records of all time, with diamond status. Tupac Shakur was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. The rapper has also starred in several popular films such as Poetic Justice, Juice and Above the Rim.
