Heartbeat Semifinals!
All candidates want to be live on the big stage at the big “Germany’s Next Top Model” finale next week. For one model, however, that dream was dashed Thursday night after a nerve-wracking Cirque du Soleil-style shoot.
While some women floated confidently over the water on the trapeze, others received criticism. Heidi Klum (50) got support from a true model icon for the most important decision of the evening on the Elimination Walk: Elle Macpherson (59) stood by her as a co-juror.
Circus shooting causes frustration
Not all model candidates were happy when Heidi explained the challenge: “Today you will be on a trapeze in the air. You must soar through the air safely and gracefully.”
And that wasn’t all: the shooting was to take place over a pool and end with a courageous jump into the cool water.
Nicole (49) was worried about her fear of heights, but remained ambitious: “I want to go to the final!” However, her performance then inspired Heidi Klum and photographer Max Montgomery alike – unlike Olivia’s (22). Not only did she drop her top hat in the water, but she also got criticism from Heidi Klum: “Nicole has come up with so many ideas, and Olivia is so careful about it!”
For Coco (21), the shoot was particularly tricky. She swayed on the trapeze with her legs apart – that didn’t go over well with the photographer: “Please don’t do this pose!” Montgomery was only partially convinced by her further attempts. He complained: “It looks compressed. You seem very shaky right now.”
Vivien (23) even got caught in her poses on the pole and had to fall into the water prematurely. She already saw her place in the final dwindling: “It looks pretty close.”
Zoff after the elimination walk
At a photo shoot for MAC Cosmetics, which wants to make this year’s GNTM winner the face of her campaign, Vivien caused enthusiasm again. Coco also received praise from Creative Director Drew Elliott: “Coco has such a model look!”
In the all-important Elimination Walk in outfits by fashion icon Philipp Plein (45), however, Coco’s mood quickly ended up in the basement again. she ran Heidi and the co-jurors Elle Macpherson and Philipp Plein not only too quickly, but also caused confusion with their looks.
Heidi wondered: “Where is she looking?” Macpherson also made himself felt: “We are here!” Plein’s criticism then hit the model in the heart. He complained: “You can do better, we’re in the semifinals! I’m a little disappointed.”
Coco promptly burst into tears backstage and was consoled by Selma (19), who assured: “It’s not just about the walk.” Olivia was less sensitive. She tried it with tough honesty: “In the end it’s the walk. You shouldn’t say it’s all good. That ‘don’t worry’ is lying to me!”
She did not get the sympathy of the other candidates, Vivien made no secret of her anger: “That was completely wrong!” However, Olivia remained in the best of spirits and was so excited after her own successful walk in front of Coco’s eyes that Nicole is now for Coco made strong: “I don’t think it’s nice when someone is unhappy that you step in again.”
However, Coco was rather uncomfortable with the stress around her person. She relaxedly awaited the judges’ decision: “I don’t need the discussion. Everything is easy.”
GNTM off for Coco
At the end of the evening, Coco and Vivien had to tremble. After Heidi Klum once again showed the most beautiful season moments of the two, she announced her decision with a heavy heart: “Coco, I have to tell you: I don’t have a photo for you today. But you can be proud of yourself!” The 21-year-old carried the announcement with composure and only commented succinctly: “You can’t have everything in life.”
The finalists for the big GNTM live finale next Thursday in Cologne it is clear: Selma, Vivien, Nicole, Somajia (21) and Olivia are fighting for the title of “Germany’s Next Top Model 2023”.
