an actor from The Chosen shared his testimony of conversion, stating that knowing the story of Jesus through work led him to give his life to God.
Nick Shakoour, interpreter of Zebedee – fisherman father of James and John – said that his personal encounter with Jesus occurred after starting his work on the series The Chosenand that the witness of Christians working behind the scenes contributed to this.
The creator of the series, Dallas Jenkins, evangelical, said that he hired people based on their competence, without prioritizing religion. His focus was on making the best production, and the results in that sense are undeniable. As a result, some non-Christian professionals were hired, and through their work, they became knowledgeable of the Gospel message.
“It’s been a big change,” said Nick Shakoour in an interview with the portal. Christian Headlinesadding that the “people behind the scenes who are believers” had a big influence on him.
These believers, said the actor, became “his friends”, and this coexistence led him to “begin to seek God through them”.
“It all piled up this past September when I was invited to a church convention where the next thing I knew, a bunch of people surrounded me… and they laid their hands on me and started praying. And I got to experience what it was like to feel the Holy Spirit going from the outside in and setting my body on fire,” he stated categorically.
The experience of being touched by the Holy Spirit, said Nick Shakoour, was transformative and remarkable: “It felt like all my organs were being burned and I was being vibrated and microwaved at the same time. That’s the best way I can describe it.”
He then stated that he feels like a new person: “I literally felt like I had been given a whole new body – everything was brand new,” he said, while holding back tears.
The ecstasy even impacted his physiology: “Since this happened, I don’t have the feeling of hunger and I don’t get thirsty. So now I have to struggle to remember to drink water and eat – and I was someone who [comia] six meals a day… for training. And it’s like God said, ‘No, you don’t need all those six meals.’
Prayer
Nick Shakoour said he heard that a worker who worked at the construction of scenarios The Chosen had prayed for an actor to convert.
This mason also said that the construction crew wrote Bible verses on the walls of the sets before painting them, and the first set they did this on was Zebedee’s house:
“He said, ‘We got together as a construction team and prayed that one of the actors would receive the Holy Ghost, and [que o ator] become the seed that would spread the Gospel,'” Shakoour said.
“It’s been one mind-boggling thing after another with what’s been happening on and off the show. […] My mind is blown by what happened. So the show has been a blessing and I’ve loved acting on it.
