San Salvador. With 66 votes, the Legislative Assembly approved this Wednesday morning, June 7, the reduction from 84 to 60 deputies for the next legislative period.

The request made by President Nayib Bukele during his message to the nation, within the framework of his Fourth Anniversary, on June 1, was endorsed by the deputies of Nuevas Ideas, PCN, GANA and PDC; On the contrary, Arena, Fmln, VAMOS and Nuestro Tiempo voted against (13) or did not vote.

According to the new provision reformed in the pertinent legislation, the distribution of deputies is as follows: San Salvador, 16 deputies; Santa Ana, San Miguel and Sonsonate, five each; Liberty, seven; Usulutan, four; Ahuachapán and La Paz, three; La Unión, Cuscatlán, Chalatenango, Morazán, San Vicente and Cabañas, two each.
