Tens of thousands of people marched today (Thursday) in the pride parade in Tel Aviv. According to the organizers’ estimates, about 100,000 marchers participated, of which 10,000 were tourists.

Earlier, the police stopped a man near the parade route, in his bag were found an electric shocker, a spike, pepper spray and an unidentified chemical substance. The suspect, a 33-year-old resident of Tel Aviv, was arrested and handed over to the police for questioning.

Adi, mother of two daughters from Hod Hasharon, came to the parade with the whole family: “This is their first parade, we came so the girls can see all this beauty. It is also a protest against the government, so that they will see that we are here and everywhere and so that the girls will see that there are more of us. It moves us to see more families like us, at first I was afraid to come with the flag raised, but I was fooled.’

Yael, who came with her daughter and her friends to the parade, actually prefers the parade in Jerusalem: “I’m glad that there is something that is not a carnival and the happening, I don’t connect with the happening. All these parties are important and it’s nice, but in the end, people are also murdered in hate crimes and it’s easy to forget that at the happening of Love”.

Meir, who was attacked at the end of the pride parade that took place in Jerusalem, also came to the parade in Tel Aviv: “It was very frustrating, we really had to defend ourselves. The attackers felt safe and didn’t have to run away. The parade in Tel Aviv is very different, nice and you don’t have to be afraid anywhere.”
