Absent for many days, the rain has decided to show up during the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The drivers were obviously no longer very used to it since some did not anticipate and kept their slick tyres. Result, the heads to tail and the “straight” multiply. After only three hours of racing, former Formula 1 driver Estéban Gutierrez left the track at the wheel of his Glickenhaus. He paved the way for his counterparts since Cadillac number 3, driven by New Zealander Scott Dixon, went to mow the sides of the circuit again.
These mishaps triggered the exit of the yellow flag and the passage to the pits of a large part of the cars, which caused a huge queue to come out of the pitlane.
