On June 8, 1671, he was born in Venice Tommaso Albinoni. His musical talent emerged in his early years when, without encouragement from his family, he learned to play the violin and sing. His father is a paper merchant who was counting on the first-born Tommaso to inherit and develop the family business.

After it became clear that he had chosen to take the path of music, the family supported him as an independent composer.

In 1722, Maximilian Emanuel II, Elector of Bavaria, to whom Albinoni dedicated twelve concerts, invited him as opera conductor for the wedding celebration of his son Elector Carl Albrecht and Maria Amalia.

Albinoni married the opera singer Margherita Raimondi. He wrote at least fifty operas, but is best known for his oboe concertos. Albinoni’s contemporaries compared his music to that of Corelli and Vivaldi. His instrumental music attracted the attention of Johann Sebastian Bach, who wrote at least two fugues on Albinoni’s themes and constantly used his bass lines as exercises for his students.

Albinoni died when he was 79 years old.

Part of Albinoni’s work was lost in the destruction of the Dresden State Library during World War II.

The famous Adagio in G minor (Adagio In G Minor) has been restored, and perhaps composed, by the Italian musicologist Remo Giazzotto. The adagio is based on a short fragment of a slow movement (most likely for a trio sonata) that he found among the ruins of the library.

The gazzotto has discovered only six bars from the beginning of the melody, from which Albinoni’s Adagio is resurrected.

Gazzotto himself remained silent for the rest of his life about the Adagio, which is very different from the rest of Albinoni’s work, writes Lunatik.bg.

After Giazzotto’s death in 1998, Professor Wolf Dieter Lugert together with his colleague Volker Schütz established that a musical fragment of The adagio of Albinoni did not exist in the Dresden Library.
