Digital media published that the former official had already been sent to house arrest to continue his judicial process, but Muyshondt’s lawyer said that “this was circulated, but there is nothing like that, it is a rumor”, and clarified that they have not received, until Saturday night, an official communication from the Sixth Sentencing Court, which has authority in this case.

For the lawyer, the fact that the two-year term has expired without a final sentence against the former mayor opens the door so that “they can deliver it on Monday, possibly yes.”

As for Ernesto Muyshondt’s state of health, his lawyer and also an uncle confirmed that “he is always delicate, he has a serious lung problem. been subjected”.

The former municipal official was arrested on June 9, 2021, under the crime of illegal negotiations, for allegedly having negotiated with criminal groups to obtain the vote of their structures in favor of the ARENA party, in the 2014 elections.

Since that arrest, the Attorney General’s Office added three other judicial processes for withholding and appropriation of labor and tax quotas of employees of the capital’s commune during his administration.

Investigating judges ordered the former mayor to continue the process under arrest at his home, due to his delicate state of health, but the Chamber magistrates (a higher court) revoked this decision.

In such a way that Muyshondt has remained in the La Esperanza Penal Center, in Mariona, where his health has been improving.

When he has had the opportunity in public judicial hearings, Muyshondt has declared that he considers himself a political prisoner, has denounced ill-treatment in prison and that he has seen how other inmates have died in the prison.
