An enthralling journey through the mysteries of the “Republic night”, a total immersion in a dramatic season with many questions still open. “Signals in code”, published by SEM, is the debut work of Gabriele Barberis Vignola, a journalist and commentator who has been following the events of Italian politics for over thirty years. In this first work of his, set in the 1970s, Barberis moves Alessandro Maccari and Cesare Fontanelli on the stage of narration, boys from the Roman upper class who have chosen to join the armed struggle. Their story will intertwine, forty years later, with that of Luca Boursier, son of the most important Italian banker, with a troubled past as a rebellious and restless university student. Luca, thanks to a collaboration with a journalistic agency in Milan, will bring out an unsuspected talent as a thoroughbred reporter that will lead him to deal with events cloaked in mysteries and intrigues.

The last stage of these investigative trips will be the discovery of a shocking document that could rewrite the last decades of our country’s history and jeopardize the consolidated power of the Republic’s top leaders. From now on, the secret apparatuses of the State will field all the weapons at their disposal to prevent the “secret” from coming out.

“Signals in code”, with a narration between noir and “pure” investigation that does not disdain twists, is the story of a country that is still suffering from errors and mysteries and which for this reason cannot be said to be completely innocent.
