Department of Health releases Kovid figures for the state

Thiruvananthapuram: Kovid confirmed 2407 cases in the state today. Thiruvananthapuram 505, Ernakulam 424, Kozhikode 227, Kottayam 177, Thrissur 159, Kollam 154, Kannur 145, Pathanamthitta 128, Malappuram 106, Alappuzha 93, Wayanad 77, Palakkad 67, Kasaragod 52 and Idukki 43 districts were diagnosed with the disease today.

During the last 24 hours, 44,754 samples were tested. The Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is 6 wards in 5 Local Government Areas above 10. There will be strict control here.

There are currently 1,24,904 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,21,046 are under home / institutional quarantine and 3,858 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 163 people were newly admitted to the hospital. Currently, out of 24,501 Kovid cases, only 9.3 per cent are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals. It has been confirmed today that 11 deaths in the last few days were due to Kovid-19. In addition, 104 deaths have been reported which have been appealed by the Central Government under the new guidelines of the Supreme Court. This brings the total death toll in the state to 46,318.

Today, 21 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 2253 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 116 is not clear. Seventeen health workers were affected.

3377 people who were diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 792, Kollam 184, Pathanamthitta 170, Alappuzha 68, Kottayam 260, Idukki 142, Ernakulam 662, Thrissur 183, Palakkad 48, Malappuram 117, Kozhikode 370, Wayanad 96, Kannur 227 and Kasaragod 58 were cured. With this, 24,501 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 51,61,800 have so far been freed from Kovid.

Kovid 19 Analysis Report

97.5 per cent of the population to be vaccinated were given one dose of vaccine (2,60,63,304) and 76.6 per cent were given two dose of vaccine (2,04,73,363).

As per today’s report, 2120 out of 2407 new patients were eligible for vaccination. Of these, 163 took one dose and 1325 received two doses. However, 632 people were not reported to have received the vaccine. Kovid vaccines protect people from infection and serious illness and significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death.

Between 18 and 24 December, out of an average of 28,476 cases being treated, only 2% needed oxygen beds and only 1.8% needed ICUs. During this period, there were approximately 4670 fewer reported new cases compared to the previous week. The growth rate of new cases has decreased by 19 per cent compared to the previous week. The number of patients currently being diagnosed and treated in hospitals, field hospitals, ICUs, ventilators and oxygen beds decreased by 20%, 10%, 40%, 6%, 7% and 16% this week compared to the previous week. Hospitalization rates and serious cases show a declining trend.
