The pictures are impressive. While Haute-Garonne has been placed on yellow vigilance since Sunday noon by Météo France, violent storms broke out in the afternoon, especially in Toulouse. The water level rose to a high level in a very short time, as several videos posted on social media show.

Other videos show that traffic by car or scooter has become very complicated or even impossible in other streets of the city. According to information from France Blue Occitania, several Toulouse metro stations also took on water. On line B, traffic was interrupted between the Jean-Jaurès and Palais de justice stations.

This stormy episode obliges to mobilize the emergency services on the spot. Haute-Garonne firefighters had to carry out at least sixty interventions between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., mainly in Toulouse, reports The Midi Dispatch. “About fifty firefighters are mobilized only on this weather episode”, specifies the newspaper. The Minimes district, located in the north of the city, would be particularly affected by storms.

According to Météo France forecasts, the thunderstorms should continue throughout the evening as well as overnight from Sunday to Monday. France 3 Regions affirms for its part that the firefighters call inhabitants of Haute-Garonne to “caution”.
