While the parties of the Nupes are torn on the idea ofa common list for the Europeans of June 2024, the Young Socialists, the Young Ecologists, the Young Rebellious and the Young Generation. s, affirm that they do not accept “the disunity of the Nupes as a fatality”. Only the Young Communists do not participate in this forum.

Deploring “that until now, no substantive debate on our European projects has really been able to be opened within our political camp”, the signatories call on us not to allow ourselves to be “locked in by our adversaries in the spectacle of a disunited left which would first seek to put forward its differences to justify its disunity”. “We do not believe that these differences are so insurmountable”, they add, recalling that in June 2022, with the Nupes agreement, “we were able to come together on a common program of more than 650 measures, among which an entire chapter was devoted to European politics”.

“Ecological, democratic and united bifurcation”

They consider it “possible to carry together a new European project which breaks with the liberal and productivist course of the European Union and puts at the heart the requirement of an ecological, democratic and united bifurcation”. These organizations announce the launch of the “European Nupes Youth Forum” on June 25, followed by programmatic work throughout the summer. The conclusion of this work “will make it possible to discuss the advisability of a common list for the European elections of June 2024”.

At the party level, EELV and the PCF are opposed to the idea of ​​a common list for European women, which LFI and Génération.s want. The PS affirms that we must first discuss the project to see if a common list is possible, but says that it has more convergence with EELV than with the others.
