“Meloni, a premier who wins away”, the portrait of Bisignani

A highly prepared policy that studies all the dossiers on which it must intervene without ever being found unprepared for the meetings it must participate in. A prime minister who “wins away”, that is, who is able to better manage international political issues by trying to impose her line. These are just a few elements that outline the portrait of Giorgia Meloni, the first woman to hold the role of Prime Minister in Italy, which emerges from the pages of the book ‘The powerful in the time of Giorgia’ written by Luigi Bisignani and Paolo Madron and published by Clear letters.

The volume was presented yesterday in Rome, in the Coffee House of Palazzo Colonna, by the same authors preceded by Simone Dattoli of Inrete who introduced the event. To be told is the rise of the premier from Garbatella, the Roman district where she grew up, up to the entrance to Palazzo Chigi on October 23, 2022, the day of the handover with the outgoing president Mario Draghi. At the same time the two authors draw the map of power that accompanies the premier’s activity and the ongoing dynamics to enter the rooms where the fate of the country is decided. Bisignani, who opened the meeting by recalling Silvio Berlusconi, highlighted that Meloni showed “crazy courage” by entering “in a difficult world” from the beginning of her political adventure. A world in which she “established herself by studying and working a lot”.

Even on the international front, to which Bisignani and Madron dedicate a chapter of their text, the prime minister is proving to be able to interact with her interlocutors. Proof of this is the fact that, argues Bisignani, “Meloni has managed to make a true masterpiece right away and abroad. She has established herself with her greatest characteristic. She is a nerd, she studies everything and knows everything. The president Chinese Xi Jinping, when he met Meloni, was struck by it because the premier knew all the dossiers perfectly”. This is an answer to those who hypothesized “that if Meloni had won the elections, Europe and the world would have closed the doors in our faces”. The meeting ended with a moving speech by Alessandro Cattaneo of Forza Italia who recalled Silvio Berlusconi.
