The Omicron strain of SARS-CoV-2 has become dominant in Belgium. TASS writes about this with reference to virologists, who said that on December 25, as many people were infected with the omicron as with the delta strain.

In just two weeks, the new variant of the coronavirus managed to supplant its predecessor. In the coming weeks, the omicron strain will account for almost 90 percent of new infections, experts are sure.

At the same time, it is emphasized that this week, about seven thousand infected people were detected per day, which is 36 percent less than a week earlier.
