A glamorous South Korean influencer has been found dead and dumped down a well in Cambodia weeks after she gave up her social media career.
The body of BJ Ahyeong, a K-pop DJ with 500,000 followers, was discovered covered in bruises and wrapped in a red carpet in a ditch in Kandal province on June 6. Police say that she appears to have a broken neck.
Cambodian police have since arrested and charged a Chinese couple with “murder accompanied by torture” after the 33-year-old man was last seen at the medical clinic.
Lai Wenshao, 30, and his girlfriend Cai Huijuan, 39, testified to police that they left the woman’s body after she went into seizures and died while receiving treatment at their clinic on June 4, according to reports. They face life in prison if convicted of the charge.
BJ Ahyeong was an influencer for AfreecaTV, a South Korean video streaming service, with hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.
