The attack shocked Nottingham and the whole United Kingdom. The man suspected of having stabbed to death Three people and injured three others in the central English town on Tuesday have been charged with triple murder, British police said on Friday.
The police, who have therefore not in the state brought charges under the laws on terrorism, have also charged Valdo Calocane, 31, of three attempted murders for injuring three people by hitting them with a van. He will appear in court on Saturday.
A suspect with no known fixed address
Two 19-year-old students, Barnaby Webber and Grace Kumar, and 65-year-old school worker, Ian Coates, were stabbed to death in the attack, while three others were injured, hit by a van, sparking a major wave of emotion in the city and beyond.
“These charges are a significant development and come after a thorough investigation into these horrific incidents that have taken place in our city,” Nottinghamshire Police Chief Kate Meynell said in a statement. There police specifies that the suspect, a former student of the University of Nottingham, had no known fixed address.
