The payment installment for the month of June referring to the Bolsa Familia will be released from this Monday, June 19, through Caixa Tem.
The 21 million families noticed changes in relation to the social benefit, with the approval of the MP for the income transfer program. For this month there was value of the benefit.
The reduction in the value of the Bolsa Família in June is due to the CNIS income updates in the register of families in the CadÚnico.
With such a change, the monthly income of many families exceeded the limit allowed to continue in the program and these beneficiaries were included in the Bolsa Família Protection Rule.
Below is a summary of what happened:
- MDS automatically updated household income with CNIS data;
- Families whose income was in the limit of R$ 218 per person will continue to receive Bolsa Família normally;
- Family whose monthly income went from R$ 218 per person, but remained below of BRL 660 per person, included in the Protection Rule;
- Bolsa Família Protection Rule cuts the benefit in half and lasts for up to 2 years;
- Families whose income increased from R$ 660 per person, after updating, had the Bolsa Familia automatically cancelled.
Bolsa Família Protection Rule: What is it and how does it work?
In June 2023, the MDS began implementing the Bolsa Família Protection Rule, which consists of keeping the family whose income per person increased in the program for up to 2 years, but cutting the benefit in half.
See who will be included in the protection rule
According to the rules, all families whose per capita income (per person) exceeds R$ 218 per month, as long as it is below the limit of half a minimum wage (R$ 660) per member.
Still according to the rules, when entering the Bolsa Família protection rule, the beneficiary starts to receive half (50%) of the amount to which he was entitled for a period of up to 2 years. If the family’s income falls back within the limits, the return to the program is guaranteed, with priority given to these beneficiaries.
Does getting a formal job cancel Bolsa Família?
The fact that a member of the family gets a formal job does not automatically cancel the Bolsa Família payment. According to the rules, the benefit is only cut if the family’s income is outside the limits stipulated by the government.
Thus, to find out if your Bolsa Família can be cut, just add up the income of everyone in the family and divide by the number of members. If it falls below R$ 218 per person, Bolsa Família remains active. If it is above BRL 218 and up to BRL 660 per person, it enters the Protection Rule.
