Eser, who was alleged to have embezzled money by pretending that cases were never opened in Bartın and Karabük and by forging documents, was released pending trial after being in prison for about 4.5 years.
The final decision was made in the case of Eser, who was sentenced to 36 years and 9 months in prison in March 2020 on charges of “embezzlement, forgery of official documents, laundering of property values arising from crime” by the Kastamonu High Criminal Court, but whose decision was overturned in the appeal court.

Eser, who attended the hearing through the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS), admitted his guilt in his defense and said that he regretted having resorted to illegal means.
The court board ruled that Eser be sentenced to 36 years and 9 months in prison, 8 years 9 months for embezzlement, 10 years 6 months for forgery of official documents, 17 years 6 months for fraud, and a judicial fine of 71 million 585 thousand liras.
