The dream fulfilled by the brothers Diego and Facundo Leánez of forming a team from San Juan in National Tourism had a brake on its continuity. It is that the economic crisis forced the brothers to alternate the handling of one of the Toyota Etios while the other was put on rent. Thus, this weekend Diego will run and on the next date Facundo will do it, while the second Etios will be handled by Cristian Vaira from Santa Fe. The TN Class 2 will open the activity today at the Posadas racetrack with training and classification.
The San Juan al TN team consolidated itself in the category thanks to the good performances of Facundo and Diego, in which they are regular protagonists with very competitive cars. Facundo, in fact, is the current runner-up in Class 2, breaking a four-decade drought without a driver from San Juan being able to wear the 2 in his car (the previous one had been Cascote Juárez).
However, this season began to get extremely complicated after the Concordia race, at the beginning of May. Diego’s car suffered a crash and repairing the damage involved a heavy investment, which at the same time took more time than usual. Thus, for the following date in Comodoro Rivadavia, on May 28, the team decided not to travel with a single car, due to the high costs.
And now, for the sixth competition to be held this weekend in Posadas, San Juan al TN will return to the tracks but with one of the brothers in the race. “We decided to alternate driving in one of our cars until the end of the year. This weekend my brother Diego will run, then I will do it,” said Facundo.
“This decision was forced, it is not what we wanted. But we are having a difficult budget and taking into account the country’s economic situation and inflation, it is impossible for us to run with both cars,” said Diego.
In this way, the other Toyota will be driven by Cristian Vaira, a car that, as always, will be under the technical assistance of José Luis Martos and the motorization of Horacio Más.
Vaira ran the first five races with another team, but chose San Juan over TN to continue in the category. “I agreed with Diego Leánez to run with his Etios from this competition in order to give continuity to the project that he had planned for this season. I want to advance with my experience within Class 2 and I consider that with this possibility that arose with the team of the Leánez family, I can achieve it,” said Rafael on the APAT website.
On the other hand, today the activity at the Posadas racetrack will have Class 2 training sessions starting at 11, while the first classification will be at 16:30.

The Top Race will be presented this weekend at the Juan Manuel Fangio racetrack, in Rosario, and Ulises Campillay will be driving the SDE San Juan team car in the TR Series, which is the intermediate division. Once again, Juan Cruz Roca will not be able to participate in the Top Race Junior, since the category was not included in the schedule.
Today the Top Race Series will carry out free tests to fine-tune the cars for tomorrow’s qualifying and Sprint.
Orange tree in the Abarth. Joaquín Naranjo will be the San Juan representative in the Abarth Cup, support category of the TN in Posadas. Naranjo, who leads the championship in the single-brand, will do training today from 1:20 p.m.
