As part of the implementation of the project “Empowering adolescents through life skills and financial education through gender”, the Financial Inclusion Company (SIF-Groupe) opened yesterday, June 14 in Cotonou , the training of local facilitators and local organizations in financial education. The training led by Médéric Houngbo was launched by the manager of SIF-Groupe, and chief coordinator of the NPL project in Benin, Armel Bruno Allavo.

Coming from various local organizations, they are more than ten to take part in this training of local facilitators and local organizations. During three days, they will familiarize themselves with the Aflatoun methodology of social and financial education and the Aflateen 2.0 curriculum. They will be certified in Aflatoun’s learner-centered learning methods and techniques, equipped to develop a conduct sheet for youth training sessions. According to the chief coordinator of the NPL project in Benin, Armel Bruno Allavo, “During the three days, it will be a question of strengthening the capacities of local organizations and facilitators within the framework of the project for the deployment of social education financial support for the benefit of young beneficiaries”. At the end of this seminar, the participants must be well equipped to multiply this training with young adolescents at the level of their respective groups and organizations, he added. A total of twelve (12) sessions are planned and will cover, among others, The ABCs of Successful Planning, Children’s Social and Financial Enterprise, Picture Theater for Aflateen 2.0, Savings and Expenses, Planning and Budgeting, Learning to trust each other, Rights and Responsibilities…In addition to a better knowledge of the Aflatoun project and the organization, they will have to develop the skills that will enable them to transmit knowledge, life skills and social and financial assistance to teenagers aged 10 to 19. At the end of the first day of training, the participants expressed their joy at taking part in this training, which allows them to develop new skills to better serve their community. Together, they praised the Aflatoun methodology which allows them to assimilate the concepts more easily. Member of AIESEC/Benin, who took part in this training, Roméo Ogouvidé, seduced by the pedagogical approach, confides: “This training is ideal and allows us to strengthen the capacities of young people in our organizations in order to make them major social and financial players”. “I took part in a series of training sessions, but here I liked the quality of the methodical approach, the pedagogy and I hope to have a great time”, testified Roméo Ogouvidé. He intends, like his participating peers, to learn more, to strengthen his skills in order to go and share with the members of his organization and the other young people around him.
