Mali calls for the “withdrawal without delay” of the UN mission: minister
UNITED NATIONS (United States), June 16, 2023 – The Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs asked Friday before the UN Security Council for the “withdrawal without delay” of the United Nations mission in his country (Minusma), whose he denounced the “failure” to respond to the security challenge.
“The government of Mali calls for the immediate withdrawal of Minusma. However, the government is willing to cooperate with the United Nations in this perspective,” said Abdoulaye Diop, rejecting all the options for changing the mandate of the peacekeeping mission proposed by the UN Secretary General.
