Euskal Trenbide Sarea has awarded a consortium led by Acciona the construction of the second section of Line 5 of the Bilbao Metro between Aperribai and Galdcano, with a length of 2.8 kilometres.

The contract includes the platform and superstructure works between the Bengoetxe and Galdakao stations, and the ventilation and emergency galleries at Olabarrieta and Abusu. The project has an award budget of 88.1 million euros and an execution period of 48 months.
The consortium, made up in equal parts of Acciona, Sacyr, Altuna and Uria, and Bycam, will begin drilling in September, thus starting construction of the three sections of line 5, with the aim of bringing the service to the center of Galdcano in 2027.
